At what point in our construction process should we contact Doherty Design
Group?
As early as possible. We work directly with architects, interior designers
and contractors to ensure that the systems and components we specify integrate
seamlessly with the overall design and function of your home. If we are involved
early in the process, the design process is efficient for you and everyone
involved.
Can your services be coordinated with our architect, interior
designer, builder and subcontractors?
Absolutely. In fact, your design and construction partners become
an integral part of the Doherty Design team. We consult with architects
to ensure our systems are integrated into the architecture of your
home, and work with interior designers to specify systems that
complement your home’s décor. We also work side-by-side with builders
and installers to hit major milestones in the construction process,
and ensure installation is properly documented and all systems
are tested at the appropriate points.
Which equipment manufacturers do you represent?
We maintain strong relationships with the industry’s top suppliers in all categories.
Because our primary focus is lighting design and control, we choose to work
with the company that invented it–Lutron
Electronics.
Can you provide “whole house” automation?
Yes, Doherty Design Group designs and executes completely integrated control
systems for lighting, shading, security and other residential technology
systems.
Are there any pricing guidelines for your services?
Because your home is unique, the lighting design, lighting control and residential
technology consulting we provide is unique as well. We begin every project
by assessing your needs alongside your budget, and tailor our recommendations
accordingly.
Will I work with Tom Doherty or an associate?
Tom is involved in every Doherty Design Group project. You will also enjoy
the benefit of our entire team’s expertise, including that of Charlie Derk,
Director of Technology, who was one of the lead engineers for Lutron Electronics’
HomeWorks® product family.
Is there any lead time I need to plan for when working with
Doherty Design Group?
We are fully staffed to take on new clients at any time.
Because we are typically involved in projects for which construction timelines
span one to three years, we are able to successfully manage many projects concurrently.
On average, we spend a few days to one week meeting with a new client, assessing
their lighting design, lighting control and residential technology consulting
needs and preparing a project plan and budget. |
